EduKick England: How Do Host Homes Really Work?

Getting excellent soccer training, the best coaching, a specialized fitness plan, and a great education sounds like an easy decision to make. But we know it can be hard to envision yourself really living in another country.

Questions like: Where will I study? What will I eat? What if I want to go out? and many more can cause prospective students to shy away from making the best decision of their lives.

And while it’s true that dedicating to an overseas soccer academy can be a difficult step, a little information can erase that problem. That’s why our directors have put together this video following one of our student-players, JP, through his life living with a host family in England.

Watch the video below to reveal the best chance you have at working to make your dreams a reality. Not only are his accomodations, security and comfort taken into account, his host family shows genuine appreciation for their charge and enjoys the opportunity to support a young athlete in training.

After that, take a moment to listen to our Director of EduKick Manchester, and decide if our soccer academy in Manchester, England, might be right for you.

Find out what living in Manchester is really like.

Real Madrid overcame on penalties when they eventually beat out Atlético Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final for the second time in three seasons.

“Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a quiet match by his high standards, scored the decisive spot kick after Juanfran had hit the base of the post with the eighth attempt of the shoot-out. Substitute Yannick Carrasco’s 79th-minute equaliser cancelled out a first-half strike by Sergio Ramos, whose own – last-gasp – leveller against the Rojiblancos had forced extra time in Lisbon two years ago.” –

Javi and his brother Nacho Mallo are both Directors of EduKick Madrid, Spain programs, and we’re happy to have them. This is the excellent coaching we offer at all our venues!

This is an exciting time for our Madrid Academy!

What to Expect

Wake up to a Spanish breakfast and excellent, morning soccer training. After that, spend some time learning the Spanish language with a group of great guys from all around the world.

Take a lunch break – the heartiest meal of the day here – and welcome delicious new dishes like paella and old favorites like tortillas. Afterward you can plunge into the fantastic swimming pool and then maybe do some study before your final Spanish class.

Soccer training takes place again in the evenings, before a traditionally light Spanish dinner. Students often call home during this time as well as work on studies and spend time with new friends in the game room.

Manchester Soccer Academy Gains Attention

EIFA at Manchester

Soccer players (or football players, as they say overseas) ages 14-24 have a place they can go to learn and achieve their goals. It’s called EduKick International Football Association, and one of our best venues is in Manchester, England. Want to know more? Read on, watch the video below, then sign up for even more information!

Daily Coaching Sessions

Each day the student-players participate in daily coaching sessions where they are trained to be outstanding footballers in every aspect of their game. Not only that, but the individualized counsel they receive encourages them in their unique abilities. These times offer students the chance to try out a variety of surfaces and pitches to keep them aware and confident on any playing ground.

Fitness Suite

Access to a gym is a requirement for all athletes, and for EduKick Academy students, that means an entire suite of equipment, machines, personalized workout plans and one-on-one guidance. Our gym facility takes fitness seriously and is fully-equipped to provide a workout for every training requirement.

Professional Trials

Our student-players are all given opportunities and trials with professional clubs. In fact, each month we have a different pro-club come in and do a guest session where they can show the players what is expected of them and put them through their paces to get an idea of where the players stand. Because of these fantastic opportunities, every training session and guest session is gearing them up for a trial.

“I have travelled half way around the world from Australia to pursue my passion of playing football. I researched many academy’s in the UK and decided EduKick Manchester would be the most suitable academy for me, with their awesome training programmes and commitment to their students.

I arrived in January 2016, I am using this wonderful experience and opportunity to become the best footballer I can be with the intent of becoming a Professional footballer.”

Jarryd Poletto
19-year-old EduKick Manchester Academy Player

Academic Direction

As each player seeks a different track in life, we encourage them to follow the best academic course for that purpose. Full-time academic training includes courses like ESL, EFL, BTEC Sports Science, IGCSE, A-Level, and USA 8-12 Online Distance Learning, providing a wide variety of options for them to choose from in order to best prepare them for the future.

Classroom Soccer Training Sessions

Soccer excellence doesn’t begin and end on the pitch. We make it a point to teach progresssions and more cognitive concepts in a classroom where they can study the mental side of the game. Guest speakers are brought in monthly to encourage, inspire, educate and guide the players on to be the best in their personal lives and game.

Manchester: Football City

Football in Manchester is the sport of choice for its inhabitants. This culture of football greatness pervades the city, our academy and our student-players and coaches. To be here, is to love the game, and it makes us that much better as a football academy.

Joey Bilotta FTW

Joey Bilotta For The Win

If you’ve ever studied and trained at an EduKick Academy, then you know Joey Bilotta. Joey has spent most of his life inspiring young soccer players to excellence.

He works harder than most people on the planet to encourage, motivate and involve them in classes, sessions, and training that prepares them – not just for the soccer arena – but for life.

The Goal of EduKick Academies

As soccer, or football, is a world sport, it’s his goal, and the goal of all EduKick venues, to offer these young players a better sense of what the world is like. And while academics and soccer training are the main studies at each campus, the overall experience offered by EduKick International Football Association (EIFA) provides the opportunity for each student to develop intercultural competence.

Joey firmly believes that learning to understand, communicate with, and play alongside players and coaches from other countries and cultures gives these students an edge over most other players.

What Student Success Looks Like

With that edge comes a better awareness of who they are – individually – and what their place is in the international world of soccer. While some, like Duncan McCormick and David Somma, have gone on to professional careers, others have chosen to coach, teach, and work in the administrative side of the soccer world.

Whatever their place, these student-players – alumni of EduKick Academies – continue to develop in the sport they love so much.

And a good deal of this deeply embedded sense of purpose is owed to our own Joey Bilotta.

Thanks, Joey!
